(CNN)Thailand has confirmed its first case of MERS, representing a further spread of the deadly respiratory disease from the Middle East to eastern Asia, Thai Public Health Minister Rajata Rajatanavin said Thursday.
(CNN報導)泰國公共衛生部長Rajata Rajatanavin於星期四表示，泰國已確認感染MERS的首例，也表示這個致命的呼吸道疾病已從中東擴散到東亞了。
A man was diagnosed with MERS after he traveled to Thailand from a Middle Eastern country on June 15, Rajatanavin said.
Rajatanavin還說，6月15日被診斷出感染MERS的男子是從中東的國家旅遊來到泰國。
He was being treated in a private hospital in Bangkok on Thursday where his condition was said to be stable.
據說他的病情已穩定，並於星期四被安置在曼谷的私立醫院中接受治療。
Thailand would be the 26th country with confirmed Middle East respiratory syndrome cases since the disease was identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
自2012年於沙烏地阿拉伯發現MERS以來，泰國是第26個被確認有MERS相關併發症案例的國家。
The patient was in Thailand to receive treatment for heart disease, and was taken to the hospital when he displayed flu-like symptoms.
這位在泰國的病人先是因為心臟病而接受治療，後來呈現流感症狀而被送往醫院。
South Korean toll up
南韓死亡人數增加
The disease continues to claim lives in South Korea, where officials announced a further death in the country's outbreak Friday, raising the total death toll to 24.
在南韓，這個疾病持續奪取人命，官方消息通報，在星期五的爆發當中又多了1名死亡案例，死亡人數增加到24人。
But Kwon Deok-cheol, an official with Ministry of Health and Welfare leading MERS task force, told reporters at a press conference that the outbreak had "leveled off."
但帶領MERS對策部的保健福祉部政策官員Kwon Deok-cheol於記者會表示，這波疫情爆發已趨於平穩。
"Looking at the currently trend, we have judged that situation has leveled off," said Kwon. Kwon表示，看目前的趨勢走向，我們研判目前狀況已穩定下來。
"But as I've mentioned earlier, we need to watch for further spread."
但如我先前所說，我們需要觀察後續的擴散狀況。
According to South Korea's Ministry of Health, the latest patient to die was in his 70s. 根據南韓公衛當局表示，最近死亡的案例是70多歲的患者。
